Mayors representing overwhelming majority – more than two-thirds – of King County city residents highlight Constantine’s regional leadership, collaboration, and commitment to opportunity for all
King County – Today, County Executive Dow Constantine announced that he has received the endorsement of thirteen King County mayors in his bid for re-election. The nonpartisan group of mayors represent a diverse array of communities, including Auburn, Bellevue, Burien, Duvall, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kenmore, Maple Valley, Pacific, Redmond, Seattle, Shoreline, and Snoqualmie.
Constantine’s support from leaders of urban, suburban, and rural communities highlights his commitment to all residents of King County, along with his regional leadership during the pandemic and history of delivering on bold ideas that benefit the entire county. Constantine, in addition to his role as Executive, has worked closely with local elected officials to address regional priorities and advance key efforts as Vice Chair of the Sound Transit Board of Directors and as a member of the Regional Homelessness Authority Governing Board.
“In King County, we know that the whole is stronger than the sum of its parts,” said Constantine. “One of my proudest accomplishments has been building a King County government where our partners in local government are just that – partners. By identifying common challenges, and working together on shared solutions, we’ve made real progress. There’s still a lot more work to do, but I’m grateful to continue these efforts with the support of such important local voices.”
“Dow is a principled and proven leader, but most importantly he’s someone we can trust to listen and act,” said Burien Mayor Jimmy Matta. “Dow stands up for everyone in King County – workers and small business owners, immigrants and communities of color, seniors and kids – with a focus on equity and a big-picture understanding of how to achieve meaningful change. I look forward to continuing to work with Dow in the years to come.”
“Dow has set a national example for how to lead COVID-19 response and recovery,” said Redmond Mayor Angela Birney. “When the first outbreak in the country began here on the Eastside, Dow prioritized public health recommendations backed by science and took decisive action that saved lives. At this critical juncture in the pandemic, King County needs Dow’s continued leadership to successfully roll out the vaccine, rebuild our economy, and restore our quality of life.”
